Vinca minor 'Gertrude Jekyll' is a compact evergreen ground cover that creates a dense carpet of small, dark green leaves with stunning pure white flowers. This lesser periwinkle variety is more compact than other Vinca minor cultivars, making it perfect for smaller spaces and areas where controlled growth is desired.
Key Features
This white-flowering periwinkle produces an abundance of star-shaped white blooms from April to September, providing months of color in your garden. The glossy, deep green foliage remains attractive year-round, while the spreading stems root naturally as they grow, creating effective weed-suppressing ground cover. At 10-25cm tall, this low-growing plant fills gaps in borders, underplants shrubs, and brightens shaded areas without overwhelming neighboring plants.
Growing Conditions
Vinca minor 'Gertrude Jekyll' thrives in sun or partial shade, though you'll get more flowers with good light. This versatile plant adapts to most soil types but prefers moist, well-drained conditions. Once established, it tolerates drought and requires minimal maintenance. The 9cm pot size allows for quick establishment when planted 30cm apart (approximately 9 plants per square meter).
