Golden privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium 'Aureum') is a fast-growing hedging shrub with glossy green leaves broadly edged in golden yellow. It brightens a hedge line and contrasts well with darker evergreens.
- Foliage: glossy leaves with golden-yellow margins; keeps much of its foliage in mild winters
- Small white flowers in summer, followed by black berries
- Supplied as 40 plants in 9cm pots, 35-45cm tall
- Sun or partial shade; colour is strongest in good light
- Suits formal and informal hedging and screening
Plant in any reasonably fertile, well-drained soil and water regularly in the first summer. Space about 30-40cm apart and cut back after planting to encourage bushy growth. Clip two or three times a year. The berries are poisonous if eaten.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
