How many plants do you need?
A guide for young plants in 9cm pots. Multiply your area in m² (or hedge length in metres) by the figure below. Spacing depends on soil, exposure and how quickly you need full cover, so treat these as starting ranges.

| Geranium macrorrhizum | 5–7 per m² | Weed-smothering ground cover. Copes with dry shade under trees. |
| Cotoneaster dammeri | 3–4 per m² | Low evergreen cover for banks. Wide-spreading; good for slopes. |
| Lavandula 'Munstead' (lavender) | 3–4 per metre | Low hedge or border edging. Full sun and free-draining soil. |
| Euonymus japonicus 'Green Spire' | 4–5 per metre | Low formal evergreen hedge. Upright habit, a popular box alternative. |
| Lonicera nitida 'Maigrün' | 4–5 per metre | Small-leaved evergreen hedge or edging. Clips well into low formal lines. |
| Photinia × fraseri 'Carré Rouge' | 2–3 per metre | Evergreen hedge with red new growth. Single row; allow for its eventual width. |
Example: a 20m² shady bed of Pachysandra at 8–10 per m² needs 160–200 plants, which is roughly three 60-plant packs. Send us your dimensions and we will check the numbers with your quote.
