Hypericum calycinum, or Rose of Sharon, is a low, spreading shrub with large golden-yellow flowers and a boss of fluffy stamens, carried over a long summer season. It makes a dense ground cover for banks and difficult corners.
- Pack: 24 young plants in 11cm pots, about 15-25cm tall as supplied
- Flowers: bright yellow, saucer-shaped blooms in summer
- Foliage: oval, mid-green leaves, evergreen to semi-evergreen
- Light: sun or partial shade
- Use: ground cover, banks, under shrubs and informal low hedging; bees visit the flowers
Plant in spring or autumn in ordinary garden soil and water until established. It spreads by suckers, so choose a spot where it has room, and cut back hard in early spring to keep it dense and tidy.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
