Cornus Canadensis - Canadian Dogwood Ground Cover

Cornus canadensis, also known as Canadian dogwood, is a stunning ground cover with glossy green leaves and charming white flowers. This versatile plant thrives in shady gardens and grows low, creating a lush carpet effect. It's an excellent choice for achieving a natural look while attracting butterflies and bees. With its evergreen qualities, it keeps your garden vibrant year-round. Perfect for gardens, parks, or as an addition to borders!

Product Specifications

This bulk pack contains 48 individual Cornus canadensis plants, each supplied in a 9cm diameter growing pot. Plants arrive at heights between 10-25cm, ready for immediate planting. The Canadian dogwood is a low-maintenance perennial that spreads naturally to form dense ground coverage.

Growing Conditions and Care

Cornus canadensis performs best in partial to full shade conditions with moist, acidic soil. A North American woodland plant, it prefers cool, humid environments and establishes well under tree canopies or in shaded border areas. Once established, the plants require minimal intervention and naturally suppress weeds through their spreading growth habit.

Garden Applications

The white flowers appear in late spring to early summer, creating striking contrast against the glossy foliage. Following the blooms, bright red berries develop in autumn, adding seasonal interest. The evergreen leaves maintain garden color throughout winter months. This ground cover works exceptionally well in woodland gardens, shaded rockeries, and as underplanting for shrubs and trees.

Wildlife Benefits

The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators during the growing season. The autumn berries provide food sources for birds and small wildlife, supporting garden biodiversity.
