Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelli' is a bold, banana-like foliage plant with large paddle leaves that bring a tropical look to sheltered borders and big patio pots. It is grown for its leaves rather than for fruit.
- Large, broad leaves in green with red-purple tinting
- Pack of 6 plants in 17cm pots, around 40cm tall
- Grows quickly in summer once settled
- Does well in sun, in a sheltered spot out of strong wind
- Suits borders and large containers
This is a tender, exotic plant, so it is best given a sheltered position and winter protection when young, for example a thick mulch and fleece, or a frost-free greenhouse or porch for the colder months. Plant in rich, moist but well-drained soil, and water and feed generously through the summer.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
