Echinacea paradoxa is the yellow coneflower, an unusual species among echinaceas with golden-yellow petals that droop gently around a dark brown central cone. It makes a bright, cheerful plant for sunny borders and cutting patches.
- Flowers: clear yellow petals around a dark central cone, through summer
- Habit: upright perennial that forms a neat clump and returns each year
- Pollinators: a recognised nectar plant, attractive to bees and butterflies
- Position: full sun, in well-drained soil
- Pack: supplied as 12 young plants in 11cm pots, each about 15-25cm tall
Plant in spring or early autumn in a sunny, free-draining spot, spacing plants about 40cm apart, and water well until established. Heavy, wet clay is best improved with grit or compost. Leave the seedheads standing over winter if you like, then cut back in early spring.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
