24x Hakonechloa Macra (Japanese Forest Grass) - 10-25cm - Ø9cm

Hakonechloa Macra - Japanese Forest Grass (24 Pack)

Hakonechloa macra, also known as Japanese forest grass, is an elegant ornamental grass with arching, green leaves that turn a stunning golden-yellow in autumn. Ideal as a ground cover in shaded gardens, it brings a soft, flowing texture to the landscape. Low-maintenance and hardy, it's perfect for adding movement and color to your garden.

Plant Specifications

This bulk pack contains 24 individual Hakonechloa macra plants, each supplied in a 9cm diameter growing pot. Plants arrive at heights between 10-25cm, ready for transplanting into your garden or landscape project. The generous quantity makes this pack suitable for creating ground cover areas, border plantings, or completing larger garden designs.

Growth Characteristics

Japanese forest grass forms graceful, cascading mounds with its distinctive arching foliage. The bright green leaves maintain their color throughout spring and summer before transitioning to golden-yellow and bronze tones in autumn. This seasonal color change adds year-round interest to shaded garden areas where many other plants struggle to perform.

Ideal Growing Conditions

Hakonechloa macra thrives in partial to full shade, making it an excellent choice for woodland gardens, north-facing borders, and areas beneath tree canopies. The grass prefers moist, well-drained soil and benefits from consistent moisture during establishment. Once established, it demonstrates good drought tolerance and requires minimal intervention.

Landscape Applications

The flowing texture of Japanese forest grass works beautifully as ground cover in shaded areas, along pathways, or cascading over retaining walls. The 24-plant pack provides sufficient coverage for approximately 2-3 square meters, depending on spacing. Plant in groups for maximum visual impact, or use individually as accent plants among other shade-loving perennials.

Maintenance Requirements

This low-maintenance ornamental grass requires minimal care once established. Simply cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. The hardy nature of Hakonechloa macra ensures reliable performance year after year without the need for division or frequent replanting.
