24x Hypericum Hidcote - Evergreen Yellow Flowering Shrub 10-25cm

Hypericum 'Hidcote' - St. John's Wort Shrub

Hypericum 'Hidcote', commonly known as St. John's Wort, is a hardy evergreen shrub that delivers consistent garden performance throughout the year. This compact variety features glossy, deep green foliage that maintains its color even through winter months, providing reliable structure to your garden design.

Flowering Period and Characteristics

From mid-summer through late autumn, 'Hidcote' produces an abundance of large, bright yellow flowers. Each bloom showcases distinctive star-shaped stamens that create visual interest and attract pollinators including bees and butterflies. This extended flowering period ensures your garden maintains color when many other plants have finished blooming.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

This versatile shrub adapts to various garden conditions, thriving in both full sun and partial shade positions. The drought-tolerant nature of Hypericum 'Hidcote' makes it suitable for low-water gardens and reduces maintenance requirements once established. Its compact growth habit and evergreen foliage make it ideal for borders, rock gardens, or as a low hedge, typically reaching heights that complement rather than dominate garden spaces.

Garden Applications

The 24-plant pack provides sufficient coverage for creating continuous borders, filling gaps in established beds, or establishing a uniform low hedge. The 10-25cm height range at delivery allows the plants to establish quickly in your garden while providing immediate visual impact. Each plant arrives in a 9cm pot, ready for planting.

Biodiversity Benefits

By attracting bees and butterflies, this shrub actively contributes to garden biodiversity. The long flowering season provides a reliable nectar source during late summer and autumn when food sources become scarcer for pollinators.
