Skimmia japonica 'Rubella' is a compact evergreen shrub with glossy dark green leaves and clusters of deep red flower buds that colour the plant through autumn and winter. It is valued for buds, flowers and foliage rather than berries, and it is one of the most dependable plants for a winter pot.
- Glossy evergreen leaves all year
- Deep red buds through autumn and winter, opening to scented white flowers in spring
- Three plants in 10.5cm pots, about 20-25cm tall
- Partial shade or shade, out of hot afternoon sun
- Suits pots, shady borders and woodland-style planting
Use moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost or leaf mould, in a spot sheltered from strong wind. In pots, use good-quality ericaceous compost and water regularly. This is a male clone, so it does not produce berries.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
