Elaeagnus x ebbingei 'Compacta' is a tough evergreen shrub used for informal and clipped hedges, shelter belts and screens. The glossy dark green leaves have a silvery underside that catches the light in a breeze.
- Foliage: glossy dark green above, silvery beneath, evergreen all year
- Small, scented, creamy flowers in autumn that insects visit
- Supplied as 40 plants in 9cm pots, 25-35cm tall
- Sun or partial shade; copes well with wind
- Suits hedging, screening and shelter planting
Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly through the first summer while the roots establish. Space plants about 40cm apart for a hedge and trim once a year in spring to keep the shape. A layer of compost or bark mulch helps hold moisture.
Supplied as young plants in growing pots, shipped directly from our partner growers. Plants are living products, so size and shape can vary slightly from the photo.
