Ligustrum ovalifolium is a fast-growing, easy-going hedging shrub with oval, glossy green leaves. It is a long-standing favourite for boundary hedges that need to fill out quickly and take regular clipping.

Plant in ordinary, well-drained soil and water regularly in the first summer. Space about 30-40cm apart and trim back after planting to encourage branching from the base. Clip two or three times a year during the growing season. The berries are poisonous if eaten.
