60x Vinca minor 'Gertrude Jekyll' White Flowering Ground Cover - 9cm

Vinca minor 'Gertrude Jekyll' - Evergreen White Flowering Ground Cover

Vinca minor 'Gertrude Jekyll' is a compact evergreen perennial that creates a dense carpet of small, dark green leaves with pure white flowers from April to September. This lesser periwinkle variety is more refined and compact than other Vinca minor cultivars, making it perfect for smaller garden spaces.

Key Features

This white-flowering ground cover produces an abundance of star-shaped white blooms that brighten shaded areas throughout the growing season. The glossy, deep green foliage remains attractive year-round, providing continuous visual interest even when not in flower. The low-growing habit reaches 10-25cm in height and spreads effectively to form weed-suppressing mats.

Ideal Growing Conditions

Vinca minor 'Gertrude Jekyll' thrives in partial shade to full shade, though it produces more flowers in brighter conditions. It grows well in moist, well-drained soil and adapts to various soil types including chalk, clay, loam, and sand. Once established, this hardy perennial requires minimal maintenance and tolerates dry conditions better than many shade-loving plants.

Garden Applications

Perfect for underplanting shrubs, filling gaps in borders, covering banks, or planting along paths. The spreading stems root where they touch the ground, creating effective ground cover that suppresses weeds naturally. Combine with Hellebores, Hostas, or Heucheras for a layered woodland garden effect. Can also be used as a spillover plant in containers or along stone walls.

Bulk Pack Benefits

This 60-plant pack provides excellent value for covering larger areas. Plant 9 per square metre (30cm spacing) for full coverage within one growing season. Ideal for landscaping projects, woodland gardens, or creating extensive weed-free ground cover in shady garden areas.

Please note: Plants are living products and may therefore differ from the photo and description. Minor natural imperfections can occur. These often recover in your garden.
